  29. of work you are applying for and identify source from which you
  30. learned of the opening. (i.e. Career Development Center,
  31. newspaper, employment service, personal contact).
  32. \noindent PARAGRAPH TWO: Indicate why you are interested in the position,
  33. the company, its products, services - above all, stress what you
  34. can do for the employer. If you are a recent graduate, explain
  35. how your academic background makes you a qualified candidate for
  36. the position. If you have practical work experience, point out
  37. specific achievements or unique qualifications. Try not to repeat
  38. the same information the reader will find in the resume. Refer
  39. the reader to the enclosed resume or application which summarizes
  40. your qualifications, training, and experiences. The purpose of
  41. this section is to strengthen your resume by providing details
  42. which bring your experiences to life.
  43. \noindent PARAGRAPH THREE: Request a personal interview and indicate your
  44. flexibility as to the time and place. Repeat your phone number in
  45. the letter and offer assistance to help in a speedy response. For
  46. example, state that you will be in the city where the company is
  47. located on a certain date and would like to set up an interview.
  48. Or, state that you will call on a certain date to set up an
  49. interview. End the letter by thanking the employer for taking
  50. time to consider your credentials.
